Note:
Thank you to all the dog walkers who have been helping by keeping their dogs on a leash.  The Memorial Solar Calendar site is located in the “on-leash” section of the park.  This is particularly important when there are a lot of people, dogs and excitement in the center circle.  It makes for a more orderly and enjoyable experience for all in attendance.  You are some of our biggest supporters.

Those of you who have been there in the past know that we regularly review four virtues of Cesar Chavez which are metaphorically associated with the four cardinal directions.  Tolerance is also one of those virtues.  And it is a good one to be reminded of as we learn to be with one another harmoniously in a special space and moment.

Berkeley Path Wanderers: Upper Codornices Sunset Walk

Discover nature, history, and great views in the upper Codornices Creek watershed on this annual sunset walk that ends with refreshments. Co-sponsored by Friends of Five Creeks, this walk has steps and uneven trails so wear appropriate shoes and bring walking sticks, if you use them. Well-behaved dogs on leashes permitted. ‘Hidden Gems’ bike tour explores the ‘Breas.

The 8th annual Hidden Gems of Berkeley bike ride explores the curious, quirky, and crafted features and grassroots greening initiatives that make Berkeley unique — this year in Berkeley’s charming Northbrae and Westbrae neighborhoods. Meet at the North Berkeley Branch Library, 1170 The Alameda and Hopkins, 10 AM Sat., May 15. The leisurely ride on level and gently sloping terrain ends at 1 PM. Bring lunch, water, and the family — great for children over 10. The event is free; updated Hidden Gems of Berkeley maps available for $5 donation. An energetic, fast-paced spring walk along the trails of Clark Kerr campus, through sorority row, up to the stadium, onto the paths above it, and back. Well-behaved dogs on leashes permitted.
